Snapshot of QFR

At QFR, we are focused on raising awareness, by breaking down the stigma surrounding substance abuse and sparking meaningful conversations. As a group of Queen's University students, we are passionate about advocating for change, through community initiatives, outreach, and education. QFR is built on the belief that educated voices can drive meaningful change, and together, we strive to facilitate a safer and more compassionate community.

Trivia Night

Join Queens for Recovery for an informative event featuring Heather and Amber, KFLA Youth Counsellors specializing in addiction support, along with Dr. Reshetukha, an addiction psychiatrist who works extensively with medical students and diverse groups of individuals affected by substance use. Together, they will provide evidence-based perspectives on addiction, its impacts, and approaches to care—valuable for those personally affected, those supporting others, or anyone seeking to deepen their understanding of an issue that significantly influences our campus and broader society.

Attendees will also have the chance to win a range of prizes, including a $140 Spinco gift card, as well as gift cards to Tango Nuevo, Chuck’s, Score Pizza, and more. We look forward to welcoming you to this meaningful and educational event.

Importance of Queen's for Recovery

  • Over the past decade, college campuses have witnessed a substantial increase in the national use of cannabis, stimulant, and illicit drugs among students.

  • Opioid-related deaths in youths aged 15-24, has risen 369.2% from 2013-2021.

  • There are increased barriers to younger populations accessing  Opioid Agonist Treatment (OAT), with a lack of availability in providing treatment and prescriptions to young adults.

  • Individuals with substance use disorder report feeling an increased stigma surrounding their substance use, leading to a resistance in being noticed and accessing support.

We are dedicated to supporting young individuals facing challenges related to substance use, stigma, and lack of student support. Our mission is to provide a safe space for them to seek help, guidance, and resources. Through our programs and initiatives, we aim to empower youth to overcome obstacles and thrive in their communities.
